Ms Feeney’s 3rd Class are learning Irish Sign Language

Sep 10, 2021

Before the summer break SCN applied to the Department to join another new initiative called Languages Connect.

It is a programme allowing time in schools for a senior class to take on a new language. ISL (Irish Sign Language) or a modern foreign language were offered and we decided to try ISL to generate awareness, to help support better inclusion and to show appreciation of diversity in our society.

We will be carrying out lessons in ISL over the coming weeks and we are so lucky that Mrs. Trehy is able to offer her expertise to us in this area.

We had so much fun in our first lesson yesterday and caught on very quickly. We will be practising in class and at home too. Take a look at our photos 😀
