What is Discovery Primary Science and Maths (DPSM)?

The Discover Primary Science and Maths Programme (DPSM) is part of Science Foundation Ireland’s Education and Public Engagement Programme, which aims to increase interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among students, teachers and members of the public.

Since 2010 the programme has been run in conjunction with the European Space Education Resource Office (ESERO) Ireland which uses space to inspire and engage young people in science and technology in the world around them.

You can access more information on DPSM here.

Who is the DPSM Coordinator in SCN?

Ms Tyrrell has been spearheading Science in Scoil Chroí Naofa since 2013. She is instrumental in organising Science week, Engineer’s Week, Maths and ICT week and Space Week.

Which classes are involved in DPSM?

We adapt a whole school approach to science in Scoil Chroí Naofa. Every class is afforded the opportunity to enjoy science, observe science and experience science. For this reason, 14 mainstream classes are contributing to our logbook of actions in 2018/2019.

What are the requirements?

We are required to complete and document activities in five different areas as named in the steps below. Click on the steps below to access our Science activities.
