Our Wonderful Medieval Town Band

We are fortunate in SCN to have a very active and vibrant marching band spearheaded by Ms. Murray, our fantastic Band Co-Ordinator. She in turn is assisted by a group of teachers who each teach an instrument to groups of children.

Unfortunately, due to Covid 19, school band activities are temporarily suspended but we very much look forward to resuming this tradition once it is safe to do so again.

Pupils from second to sixth class are given the opportunity to be members of the school band where they learn a repertoire of music and accompanying routines each school year. The girls learn to play four instruments over the four year period to include tin whistles, melodicas, bell lyres, accordions and various percussion instruments.

The band performs at local events during the school year such as the Annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree and the wonderful St. Patrick’s Day Parade. In the lead up to a performance, the band gathers daily for a few weeks in the school hall to rehearse their performance. Below are some pictures of the band over the years. We are very proud of our very talented pupils.
